The team was very welcoming. My manager took time to help me get settled into the co-op role. The type of work that I was doing though was not directly related to my major but still provided me with a great understanding of the Fintech landscape in Canada and throughout the world. I was allowed to attend internal events at the company to build on my skills. Costs were covered for external events I attended as part of my job to gain a better understanding of Fintech companies up and coming. There was the weekly show and tells by different business lines in the bank to update on their progress and upcoming initiatives which were great.
Not many in general, but it took me a little time to get used to the environment. The only thing lacking on the office floor was a space to eat lunch, due to which most people ended up having lunch at their desks.
The culture was great and one of the biggest selling points if I was to do an internship again at Scotiabank I know the culture is amazing.
