What did you like best about your internship/co-op? What type of work were you doing?

The environment at CGI is very diverse; there are a lot of different people coming from different countries and cultures. The work environment is very comfortable; the members are supportive and want to help other members to succeed. There really are no questions I felt too afraid to ask, and I never felt the need to hesitate before asking for help. I worked on the RBC project, I found that my team was incredibly hard-working but also had formed great relationships with one another. As a project control officer, my work was mostly administrative. One of my main focuses was creating financial reports, these help to keep budget on track as well as track member hours. Other tasks I took care of were creating defect tickets, as well as assigning members to certain project codes, inserting missing billing rates etc. I also arranged team meetings, as well as helped to compile PowerPoints for team meetings. In some cases, I organized offsite meetings; this included choosing a venue for the meeting, ordering food and choosing an appropriate date. I was fortunate enough to be given some well-rounded projects that breached from my average PCO work into something more like a QA would do. This work truly gave me a great sense of experience, and always kept me on my toes doing work. This internship has also helped me to grow on my communication skills; interacting with clients and other members at CGI has created a professional communicative skill I now see in myself more than ever. I highly recommend anyone that is interested in the Business-Tech industry, and any other industry related (banking etc) to consider an internship/co-op at CGI. It truly is a great internship that helps to broaden your work experience, as well as is a great life experience that will help you to grow into a successful employee.

What did you like least about your internship/co-op?

The start-up can be quite slow, and the transition can be confusing if it is your first time at CGI (which it was for myself), however I found that my managers and fellow co-workers helped smooth this transition.
