As a Data Engineering intern(2019) at Bell Canada, I got a chance to work with various technologies such as Apache Spark, MySQL, Dynatrace along with programming languages such as Python, Java, HTML, etc. As a software engineering student, I got to apply a lot of the concepts I learned in class to the real world for performance analytics and data pipelines. There were many people to interact with from both the technical and non-technical sectors of the company. This helped give more insight on various aspects of the business and Bell's current transition into IoT and 5G technologies. The Mississauga, Ontario, Canada campus had an outdoor basketball court alongside a volleyball area making it a great place to relax throughout the day. Overall, it was a great experience and would definitely encourage others to apply.
Sometimes the timelines for certain projects were unreasonable but that can be said about many companies. Otherwise, a great corporation overall to work for.
Great management with a relaxed attitude and environment.
Sometimes maybe once a week or every other week, my colleagues and I would go out for lunch/dinner or have a day off where everyone on the team goes out for a team-lunch/dinner.
For technical internships, it may be a good idea to brush up on some basic data structures and algorithms or have a general knowledge of technical concepts that interviewers may ask you about. The interview rounds for my case consisted of one phone interview and one technical interview but it can vary depending on the department you work for(ie; Network, Mobility, IT, Business Intelligence, etc).
